Basic Balsamic Vinaigrette
Basic Balsamic Vinaigrette combines balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and garlic powder to create a versatile salad dressing with a balanced tang and slight sweetness. The presence of water thins the dressing for easy mixing and pouring, while black pepper adds subtle spice. It can be stored refrigerated and improves in flavor when rested before use.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 5 tablespoons of water
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a small bowl or jar with a lid, mix all of the ingredients except the salt. Taste and add salt if needed.
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight jar or bowl for up to two weeks.
Notes
- Use high-quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar to maximize flavor.
- Allow the vinaigrette to rest for an hour or two before serving to let flavors develop.
- For a creamier texture, blend the ingredients using a food processor or immersion blender until emulsified.
- Adjust brown sugar and mustard quantities according to your preferred balance of sweetness and tang.
