Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Place the basmati rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, 1 1/2 cups of water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 to 18 minutes or until the water is absorbed and rice is tender.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat. Let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the rice to steam.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving to separate the grains.
