BBQ chicken burgers

Ingredients

Burgers:
  • 1 pound ground chicken breast
  • ¼ cup cheddar cheese grated
  • ¼ cup prepared bbq sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
For serving:
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
Toppings:
  • coleslaw
  • pickled red onions
  • Extra cheddar cheese
  • extra BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix together burger ingredients in a medium bowl until evenly combined. Do not overmix.
  2. Shape burger mixture into 4 equal sized patties.
  3. Heat canola oil over medium heat. in a large skillet Add the patties and cook 6-7 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 5-6 minutes, until cooked through.
  4. Serve on burger buns with desired toppings.

Notes

  • You can grill these if you prefer. Just be sure not to use a super high heat setting as ground chicken can burn rather quickly.
