BBQ Pulled Pork Recipe

BBQ pulled pork is a classic American dish for good reason: rich and smoky BBQ flavors meld into the fall-apart tender strands of slow cooked pulled pork. The result is succulent, saucy pork that you can use in countless recipes! It's super quick and simple to do: make an easy spice rub, put your pork in the slow cooker with BBQ sauce, and come back when your kitchen smells like a bustling smokehouse!

Ingredients

  • 1 1 3-4 lb boneless pork butt or 4-5 lb bone-in
  • 1 ½ 1 ½ cups BBQ sauce
  • 1 1 cup broth
Spice Rub
  • ¼ ¼ cup brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • 2 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 1 tablespoon EACH: garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and salt

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Start by mixing the spice rub ingredients together in a small bowl.
  2. Remove the butcher twine from the pork and then cover it with the spices, working it into all the nooks and crannies.
  3. Place the pork in a slow cooker and add any remaining spices. Pour the BBQ sauce and broth into the slow cooker, cover with the lid, and turn the slow cooker on high for 5-6 hours or low for 8-10 hours.
  4. Remove the pork from the pot and put it into a large bowl. Pour the juices into a medium-sized pot. Bring the pot to a boil over high heat and continue to boil until the juices reduce to the thickness of BBQ sauce. Spoon the fat out and discard it.
  5. Shred the pork using two forks and then pour the reduced sauce over the pork and mix well.
  6. Serve the BBQ pulled pork in a sandwich, taco, burrito, or with mashed potatoes, or any other way you'd like!
