Beer Can Chicken

This moist & delicious beer can chicken recipe is super easy to make & only requires 5 ingredients. A perfect weeknight chicken dinner for the whole family

Ingredients
- 1 5 lb. Whole Roasting or Fryer Chicken
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 12 oz Beer Can
- salt + pepper to taste
Instructions
- Remove the giblets and rinse the chicken inside and out
- Pat dry with a paper towel including the inside cavity
- Rub the chicken with the oil and add the seasonings. To release a little more flavor, rub the thyme in between the palm of your hands, before adding it to the chicken
- Add salt and pepper to taste. Including the cavity
- Empty half of the beer in the can (or drink it)
- Grabbing the chicken legs in each hand push the bird cavity over the beer can. The can should stand by itself
Grill Method
- Place the bird on the grill
- If using a gas grill, turn on half of the burners and cover. If you're using a gas grill, set the HOT coals aside. The bird will cook better with indirect heat.
- Depending on the size of the chicken it will take about 60- 75 minutes to cook. Internal temperature should be 165 F.
- Remove from the grill and let it rest for about 5- 10 minutes before carving
Oven Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Place the beer can chicken in a baking pan or pyrex
- Bake for 60-80 minutes to cook. Internal temperature should be 165 F.
- If the chicken is browning too fast, cover with tin foil and uncover the last 15 minutes of baking
