Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 box 12 oz vanilla wafers
  • 1 5.1 oz package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 ½ cups cold milk
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract for whipped cream

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix, cold milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a large trifle dish or 9x13-inch baking dish, layer the vanilla wafers on the bottom of the dish.
  3. Add a layer of sliced bananas over the wafers.
  4. Spoon a layer of the prepared pudding over the bananas and wafers. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Spread the whipped cream on top of the pudding layer.
  7. Crush a few extra vanilla wafers and sprinkle them over the top for decoration.
  8. Refrigerate the banana pudding for at least 2-4 hours (or overnight) to allow it to set and chill.
  9. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the pudding mixture.
  • If you prefer a homemade pudding base, you can substitute the instant pudding mix with a homemade vanilla pudding recipe.
  • To make this dessert ahead of time, it's best to assemble it the night before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • You can use banana-flavored wafers for a stronger banana taste.
  • For a healthier version, you can substitute the sweetened condensed milk with a lighter alternative or reduce the amount of sugar.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
