Best Salmon Marinade Mediterranean Style

This salmon features a Mediterranean-style marinade combining lemon juice, olive oil, honey, garlic, and herbs like oregano and dill, enhanced by a touch of red pepper flakes. The salmon absorbs these bright and aromatic flavors during a brief marinating period, resulting in tender, juicy fillets. Baking at a moderate temperature ensures the fish cooks evenly, maintaining moisture while developing a delicate flake. It pairs well with a crisp side salad, making it a straightforward option for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb salmon
  • 2 lemon juice of
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 6 cloves garlic sliced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dill dried
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Pat dry the salmon and place it on a baking sheet or a container.
  2. In a bowl mix lemon juice, olive oil, honey, sliced garlic, salt, oregano, pepper, dill and red pepper flakes. Pour the marinade over salmon.
  3. Cover and refrigerate to marinade for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
  4. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or coat it with non stick cooking spray.
  5. Take the salmon out of the fridge and transfer it to the baking sheet.
  6. Bake the salmon in the oven for 20 minutes. The salmon is ready when it flakes easily and is opaque.
  7. Serve with a side salad.

Notes

  • Marinate the salmon between 30 minutes and 4 hours to maintain texture; acidic lemon juice can break down the fish if left longer.
  • Check salmon doneness by its ability to flake easily, and aim for an internal temperature of 145°F as recommended.
  • Consider adding other herbs such as coriander or thyme for different flavor profiles.
  • The marinade works well with baking, grilling, or roasting methods.
