Better Than Grandma’s Banana Bread (With Vanilla Glaze and Sprinkles!)
Report
This is my grandmother’s banana bread recipe, jazzed up with a simple vanilla glaze and festive sprinkles. This funfetti style banana bread recipe is the perfect way to use up those ripe bananas in a super delicious and fun way!

Ingredients
for the banana bread
- 3 ripe bananas mashed
- ½ cup butter melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ cup Sprinkles any kind, I used green sprinkles for St. Patrick's Day but any color preference works!
for the vanilla glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9×5-inch baking dish or loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture; mix until combined. Gradually add in the flour and baking soda, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the sprinkles. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the banana bread bakes, make the vanilla glaze: Into a mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if you prefer a thinner glaze or more powdered sugar for a thicker glaze.
- Once your banana bread has cooled slightly but still warm, drizzle the vanilla glaze over the top using a spoon. Top with additional sprinkles.
