Blue Cheese Pecan Dates are an amazing appetizer that is both easy and impressive with candied pecans, crumbled blue cheese, pitted dates, and bacon.

Ingredients

  • 4 lices Bacon , cooked and chopped
  • 1/2 cup red onion , minced
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese , crumbled
  • 4 ounces cream cheese , softened
  • 24 candied pecan , halves
  • 24 dates , pitted

Instructions

  1. To a large skillet, add the bacon on medium heat.
  2. Cook until crispy but not burnt.
  3. Remove bacon and drain most of the grease (leaving 1 tablespoon behind).
  4. Add onions and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring every few minutes.
  5. Add orange juice, stir well and cook for another 5 minutes until orange juice has cooked off.
  6. Let onions cool for 5 minutes in a small bowl.
  7. In a medium bowl mash together the blue cheese and cream cheese.
  8. Add in the red onions and bacon and mash together.
  9. Refrigerate until you're ready to serve.
  10. Add a small spoonful of cream cheese mixture to each date and top with a candied pecan.
