Boerewors burger with avocado, bacon & peppadew

Ingredients

  • 2 burger bun buttered, with sesame seed
  • 300 boerewors lean, weight in grams unspecified
  • ½ avocado sliced
  • 4 streaky bacon rashers
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • red onion finely sliced
  • mayonnaise or spicy mayonnaise
  • 2 peppadews sliced, 3 units

Instructions

  1. Heat up a non-stick griddle pan or frying pan, or have your braai lit and the coals around medium.
  2. Split the burger buns, butter them and grill on the buttered side for a couple of minutes until toasted.
  3. Remove the casings from the sausage and divide the meat into two 150gms patties. Shape and flatten. Fry or grill the burger patties until golden brown and cooked through
  4. While the burgers are cooking, fry the 4 rashers of bacon until crispy.
  5. Prepare all the other burger toppings.
  6. Assemble the burger with lettuce, tomato and spicy mayonnaise. Top with the burger patty, bacon, red onion, sliced avocado and sliced peppadews.
