Bourbon Slush
Bourbon Slush is a frozen cocktail made by simmering water and sugar to create a simple syrup, then blending it with orange and lemonade concentrates and bourbon. After freezing for several hours, the slush is served semi-frozen and topped with a carbonated beverage like Fresca or Sprite for a fruity, boozy refreshment. It's a chilled drink perfect for serving at parties or warm weather occasions.
Ingredients
- 9 cups water
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 12 ounce orange juice concentrate canned frozen
- 12 ounce lemonade concentrate canned frozen
- 2 cups bourbon
- Fresca Sprite or 7UP for serving
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the water and sugar to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
- Add the orange juice and lemonade concentrates to the simple syrup, and stir to combine. Add the bourbon and again stir to combine. Transfer the mixture to a large freezer-proof container and freeze for at least 8 hours.
- When ready to serve, fill glass halfway with the slush, then top it off with your carbonated beverage of choice.
Notes
- Make sure the simple syrup fully cools before adding concentrates and bourbon to prevent dilution.
- Freeze for at least 8 hours to achieve proper slushy consistency.
- Top servings with a lemon-lime soda like Fresca or Sprite for added fizz and brightness.
- Use a freezer-safe container with enough space for expansion during freezing.
