Bread Pudding
This bread pudding is a dessert made with day-old bread cubes soaked in a mixture of half and half, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Optional raisins add bursts of sweetness. The custard-soaked bread is baked until set and served warm or at room temperature, offering a soft and comforting texture with subtle sweet flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter more for greasing pan, unsalted
- 2 cups half and half
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup raisins , optional
- 4 large egg beaten
- 6 cups bread cut into 2 inch cubes, day old
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8x8 baking pan.
- In a large bowl whisk melted butter, half and half, vanilla, sugar, salt, raisins (optional) and eggs together.
- Add in the bread until well combined then put into the 8x8 pan, then let sit for at least 60 minutes.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature.
