Bread Pudding
Description
Bread Pudding uses cubed day-old bread that soaks up a custard made from half and half, beaten eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, with optional raisins for added texture and sweetness. The mixture rests for at least an hour to fully absorb the custard before baking in a greased pan. Baking sets the custard and softens the bread, creating a tender yet structured dessert.
Once baked, the pudding has a creamy consistency inside with a gently firm top layer. The vanilla and sugar provide a mellow sweetness balanced by the bread's hearty texture. Raisins introduce occasional chewy bursts. This pudding is served warm or at room temperature, making it a cozy comfort food or dessert.
