  • 5 large eggs
  • ¼ cup heavy cream may also use half & half
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • 8 lices brioche bread cut into 1-inch thick slices
  • butter for cooking and serving
  • berries, pure maple syrup, whipped cream, and powdered sugar for serving.

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat a large skillet to medium heat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, vanilla, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. When the skillet is heated melt in a ½ tablespoon of butter.
  4. Dip the Brioche slices in the custard mixture and allow the excess to drip back into the bowl.
  5. Cook about 3 slices in the pan at a time for about 3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  6. Keep cooked French toast in a 200-degree oven to stay warm while you cook the remaining slices.
  7. Serve with butter, maple syrup, berries, and whipped cream.

Notes

  • How Do You Make Brioche French Toast Not Soggy?
  • When you dip the bread in the custard, you don’t need to soak it. Just get a nice coating and then allow the excess to drip off before cooking it.
  • If you soak the bread, your French toast will be soggy. Brioche is very soft and will absorb a lot of the custard if you leave it sit in it.
