Broccoli Salad Recipe
This broccoli salad features bite-sized pieces of broccoli and cauliflower mixed with shredded cheddar, crispy crumbled bacon, and diced red onion, all coated in a creamy dressing made of mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar. Ingredients
- 4 cups broccoli bite-sized, from 2 bunches (see note 1, florets
- 4 cups cauliflower bite-sized, from 1 head, florets
- 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 pound Bacon fried and crumbled (see note 2)
- 1 cup red onion diced
- 2 cups mayonnaise (see note 3)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
Instructions
- To make the dressing, In a small bowl whisk together mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar. In a large bowl, combine broccoli, cauliflower, onion, cheese, and bacon.
- Pour dressing mixture to taste over the salad ingredients and toss well until evenly coated.
Notes
- You may use just broccoli or just cauliflower if preferred, or buy pre-cut florets for convenience.
- Pre-cooked, pre-crumbled bacon can be substituted as long as it is actual bacon.
- Select your preferred mayonnaise brand; some mix half mayo with Greek yogurt for a lighter texture.
- The recipe yields about 6 cups, enough for twelve 1/2-cup servings.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to four days; stir before serving as separation may occur.
