Broccoli Salad Recipe
Description
The Broccoli Salad Recipe combines fresh broccoli and cauliflower florets providing a crisp texture with sharp cheddar cheese for richness. Red onion adds a mild pungency, while bacon adds smoky saltiness and a crunchy texture. The creamy dressing, made by whisking mayonnaise with sugar and white vinegar, ties the ingredients together with a sweet and tangy balance.
Mixing the dressing with the vegetables and bacon just before serving ensures the salad is evenly coated. The salad's contrast between crunchy vegetables, creamy dressing, sharp cheese, and savory bacon creates a layering of flavors and textures.
This salad is often served chilled as a side dish, suitable for picnics, barbecues, or gatherings. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to four days, though the salad should be stirred before serving to redistribute any separated dressing.

- 1 cup red onion diced
- 2 cups mayonnaise (see note 3)
