Broiled Chicken Wings

If you thought deep frying was the only way to get crispy chicken wings, think again. Broiling in a hot oven yields crispy, flavorful wings.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken wings split and tips removed
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika

  1. Set your broiler to high and let it preheat for 5 minutes. Move the oven rack to the upper-middle position.
  2. Line two baking sheets with foil and place a wire rack on top of each one.
  3. Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel. In a large bowl, mix the chicken wings with melted butter until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange the wings on the wire racks in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch. Season the wings with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  5. Broil for 15-20 minutes or until the wings reach an internal temperature of 165°F. If you are not using a wire rack and the wings are sitting on top of foil, flip them halfway through their cook time.
  6. Serve the broiled chicken wings hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
