Broiled Scallops
Broiled Scallops presents tender sea scallops cooked under high heat with a buttery sauce blended with lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. The scallops develop a golden-brown top while staying juicy inside. This broiling method offers a quick way to prepare scallops with bright citrus notes balanced by seasoned butter. Serving with fresh parsley and lemon wedges adds a fresh contrast to the rich scallops, making it suitable as an appetizer or main seafood dish.
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper ground
- 1 pound sea scallops fresh or frozen then thawed and dried very well
- parsley for serving, freshly minced parsley, lemon wedges
- lemon for serving, freshly minced parsley, lemon wedges
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to broil and place your oven rack in the middle.
- Stir the melted butter, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt and pepper together in a medium bowl.
- Place a sheet of tin foil on a medium sheet pan then arrange the scallops on the sheet pan and drizzle half of the sauce on top.
- Broil for 6 minutes then remove the pan from the oven and drizzle the remaining sauce on top.
- Broil for another 1 to 4 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the scallops are cooked through.
- Serve with freshly minced parsley and lemon wedges, if desired.
Notes
- Serve scallops immediately after cooking for best texture and flavor.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; avoid freezing as scallops freeze poorly.
- To reheat, place scallops under the broiler for 30 to 60 seconds until warmed; microwaving is possible but may toughen the scallops.
