Bruschetta Turkey Burgers

This juicy turkey burger recipe can be cooked on the stove or on the grill. It's topped with fresh Tomato Basil Bruschetta for a flavorful meal!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed
  • ¼ cup fresh basil chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 4 hamburger buns
Tomato Basil Bruschetta
  • 3 roma tomatoes
  • ¼ cup red onion diced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Place in the refrigerator until ready to top the burgers.
Bruschetta Turkey Burgers
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, balsamic vinegar, crushed garlic, fresh basil, salt and pepper. Form into 4 half-pound burger patties.
  2. Heat a grill to medium-high heat.
  3. Add the turkey burgers to the grill and grill for 6-8 minutes per side.
  4. Three minutes before the turkey burgers are finished grilling, place ¼ cup of mozzarella cheese on each burger. Allow the cheese to melt onto the burgers.
  5. Place the hamburger buns on the grill to lightly toast. Remove the burgers and buns from the grill.
  6. Place the burgers on the buns, top each burger with ½ cup of fresh bruschetta.

Notes

  • Always make sure the internal temperature of the burger is 160°F before removing it from the grill. 
  • If you don't have a grill, you can cook these burgers on the stove in a cast iron skillet over medium high heat, following the same instructions as if you were making them on the grill.
  • Remove the bun to make this recipe gluten free and low carb. Without the bun, this recipe is 3 carbs per serving.
  • Remove the bun and the mozzarella cheese to make this recipe whole 30 compliant and paleo friendly.
