  • 250 g all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 60 g butter Unsalted, cold and diced
  • 150 ml buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (200°C fan) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, diced butter to the dry ingredients and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
  6. Roll the dough out to a thickness of about 2cm and use a round cutter to cut out biscuits.
  7. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
