Ingredients
- 8 Tablespoons of unsalted stick butter
- 1 ½ cups dark brown sugar packed
- ½ teaspoon flaked salt I used Maldon’s
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium size saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar, and salt and stir with a silicone spatula until it’s mixed.
- Bring the mixture to a boil stirring frequently.
- Reduce heat to maintain a steady low boil for 2-3 minutes while continuing to stir frequently.
- Add the cream and return it to a low boil.
- Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add the vanilla and salt and stir to combine.
- Allow it to cool slightly before transferring it to a glass jar. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Store in the refrigerator and rewarm slowly by microwaving the jar for 20-30 seconds at a time, stirring intermittently until heated through. Will save for approximately 2-4 weeks in the refrigerator.
