Caesar Salad Recipe

This classic Caesar salad features romaine lettuce, baked garlic Parmesan croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese, and a creamy homemade Caesar dressing.

Ingredients

Croutons
  • 1/2 of a baguette, cut into 1/4 inch slices and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste, I used about 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese
Caesar Dressing
Salad
  • 3 heads romaine hearts, chopped into bite-size pieces
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the baguette and cut it into cubes. Place the bread cubes into a mixing bowl. Combine the olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  3. Pour the olive oil mixture onto the bread cubes and sprinkle in the Parmesan cheese. Toss together until the bread is coated.
  4. Dump the bread onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread the cubes into a single layer and place the baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven. Bake for 6 minutes then remove it from the oven and toss the bread cubes around. Bake for another 4-8 minutes or until they're golden and crisp.
  5. Let them cool while you prepare the salad.
Caesar Salad Dressing
  1. Combine all of the ingredients for the dressing in a bowl and whisk them together. Taste for seasoning. If the dressing is too thick, add a teaspoon of water at a time until your desired consistency is reached.
  2. Store the dressing in a jar with a lid or other covered container in the refrigerator.
Assembling the Salad
  1. Add the lettuce to a large salad bowl. Add in half of the dressing and Parmesan cheese and toss together.
  2. Top the salad with the croutons, remaining Parmesan cheese, and additional dressing.
