Ingredients

  • 3 lb chuck roast

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Label the container with the date and name of item
  2. Place Chuck Roast into the freezer safe container and remove as much air as possible
  3. Seal
  4. Place into the freezer.

Notes

  • When you buy the chuck roast be sure to buy as little fat as possible. Chuck roasts have plenty of fat anyway, so it isn't usually a problem of not having enough.
  • Allow for ½ lb of raw chuck roast per person served, the fat is going to cook it WAY down.
  • You can cook your roast with potatoes and carrots. Many people prefer it this way but you don't HAVE to cook it that way. I like mine cooked separately and you might too.
  • Don't try to freeze the raw veggies with the roast, that will just result in mushy veggies.
  • If you are new to cooking roasts, don't try any other cut that a chuck roast. Shoulder roasts and others are often tougher and you might want to wait until you have this under your belt before moving on.
  • The idea with pot roast is cooking low and slow - so if it isn't fall apart tender, then try cooking it longer. That usually works.
  • Freeze for up to 6 months.
  • Be sure remove as much air as possible from the package because that helps prevent freezer burn
