Candied Bacon

This Candied Bacon recipe combines bacon, brown sugar, and savory seasonings to create an absolutely addicting snack, side dish, or garnish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Bacon thick cut
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with two layers of foil (to make it much easier to clean). Set a wire cooling rack on top. Set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, black pepper, steak seasoning, red pepper flakes, garlic powder and paprika. Set aside.
  4. Lay the bacon slices on the wire rack ensuring they do not overlap.
  5. Sprinkle a generous layer of the sugar mixture over the top of the bacon making sure to cover all parts.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-35 minutes or until the bacon is dark brown. Make sure to watch the bacon carefully starting at the 20-minute mark as the bacon can burn quickly.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before running a metal spatula under each piece to make sure it doesn’t stick completely to the rack. The bacon will continue to crisp up and harden as it cools.
