Candy Cane Ice Cream (Peppermint Ice Cream)

Homemade peppermint ice cream sprinkled with crushed candy cane! An easy Christmas dessert!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk one typical can
  • 1 cup Peppermint candy crushed, powdered, and divided
  • 2-3 drops Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Crush peppermint candy, save powder too.
  2. Add whipping cream to bowl of stand mixer and whisk on medium-high until soft peaks form. Do not over-mix.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of the crushed peppermints, about 1/4 cup peppermint powder (from your crushed candy canes), peppermint extract, vanilla extract, and condensed milk and gently fold together using a spatula. Add red food coloring 1 drop at a time until you have your desired shade of pink.
  4. Pour the mixture into your storage container and smooth out the surface with spatula. Sprinkle remaining peppermint crumbles on top.
  5. Cover and freeze for 8-10 hours.
