Caprese Skewers

These cute caprese skewers with balsamic glaze make for a fun appetizer or finger food. Easy to make with a few simple ingredients, they are a fresh and tasty bite that your friends and family will love!

Ingredients

  • 36 red cherry tomatoes
  • 24 bite sized fresh mozzarella balls
  • 36 Small basil leaves
  • 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1 /2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 8-inch skewers

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, Italian seasoning and salt and pepper to taste. Add the mozzarella balls to the bowl and toss them to coat.
  2. Thread the tomatoes, basil and mozzarella balls onto the skewers alternating between them. (You need 3 tomatoes, 3 basil leaves and 2 mozzarella balls per skewer.)
  3. Arrange caprese skewers on a serving platter or store them in the fridge covered until ready to serve.
  4. Place the balsamic glaze in a small plastic bag with one corner snipped off. Drizzle the balsamic over the skewers, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients. Use ripe cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella balls for the best mini Caprese skewers.
  • Drizzle the glaze just before serving. The first time I made them too far in advance, the glaze soaked into the mozzarella, and while still delicious, they didn’t have that fresh, glossy finish!
  • Cover in the fridge. If you are making the tomato mozzarella basil skewers ahead of time, keep them covered in the fridge so that the mozzarella doesn't dry out.
