Caramel Apple Dip

This Caramel Apple Dip is a popular dessert dip during the fall season. The simple yet satisfying snack has all the sweet flavor of caramel with crisp, fresh apple slices.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 8 ounces dark corn syrup Karo brand
  • 1 cup butter (2 cubes)
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a heavy sauce pan over medium heat, combine sugar, dark corn syrup and butter.
  2. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil and boil for 4 minutes.
  3. Add sweetened condensed milk and return to a boil, continuing to keep stirring.
  4. Using a candy thermometer, boil to a soft-ball stage.(235–240 degrees Fahrenheit)
  5. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Stir.
  6. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pan and pour into a serving dish. Serve with a variety of sliced apples.
  7. Store at room temperature in an air tight container.

Notes

  • *Soft-ball stage: if you do not have a candy thermometer, the best way to test if your caramel is at the soft ball stage, get a bowl of cold water. Transfer a small amount of caramel to the cold water and see if it forms a soft, pliable ball. 
  • *This caramel stays fresh up to 2 weeks in an air tight container. 
  • *Makes 3 1/4 cups of Caramel Dip.
