Chai Masala Powder
Chai Masala Powder is a fragrant blend of green cardamom, cloves, black peppercorns, fennel seed, cassia cinnamon, ground ginger, black cardamom, and grated nutmeg. This coarse spice mix is designed to flavor Indian masala chai by adding warmth and aromatic depth. It is prepared by blending all ingredients into a powder and is best used fresh to maximize its bold, spicy notes in tea.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup green cardamom aka Elaichi
- 2 tablespoon cloves aka Laung
- 2 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon fennel seed saunf
- 6 inch cassia cinnamon aka Dalchini
- 3 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon black cardamom about 11, Moti Elaichi
- 1 nutmeg grated
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients in a blender. Grate the nutmeg. Then, blend to make a coarse powder.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a month.
- Use 1/4 tsp of this powder for each cup of Indian masala chai.
