Champurrado

Easy Champurrado recipe for a rich and creamy chocolaty Mexican drink made with masa harina, milk, dark chocolate, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup masa harina corn
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chunks
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar , packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add masa harina and water to a medium saucepan.
  2. Whisk well until completely absorbed on medium heat.
  3. Keep whisking until smooth.
  4. Add in milk, bring to just barely a simmer.
  5. Add in the dark chocolate chunks, cinnamon and salt.
  6. Turn off the heat, whisk well until chocolate is melted and the drink is smooth.
  7. Serve in hot chocolate cups.
