Chana Chaat

Chana Chaat brings together boiled potatoes, canned chickpeas, fresh onion, tomato, and green chili seasoned with roasted cumin, mango powder, red chili, salt, and black pepper. Tamarind sauce adds tanginess, while sev and crushed chaat papdi provide crunch. Tossed quickly and garnished with chopped coriander, this refreshing snack balances spicy, sour, and crunchy textures.

Description

Chana Chaat uses cooked potatoes and drained canned chickpeas combined with finely chopped onion, seeded and chopped tomato, and green chili. The dish is seasoned with roasted ground cumin, dried mango powder, red chili powder, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful base.

Tamarind (imli) sauce is stirred in for tartness. Crispy elements like sev and crushed chaat papdi or puffed pani puri are added for texture, and fresh coriander leaves are used as a garnish. The mixture is served immediately to maintain the freshness and crunch of the toppings.

This dish suits as a light snack or appetizer. Variations include using different types of crunchy toppings according to preference.
