Cherry Salad Recipe (Pink Fluff)
Cherry Salad is a creamy, sweet side dish blending cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, and mini marshmallows folded into whipped topping. Pecans add optional crunch and texture. The chilled mix softens the marshmallows slightly, producing a fluffy, dessert-like salad that is fruity and lightly nutty. It’s commonly served cold, often alongside savory dishes, providing a contrasting sweet flavor and a light, airy texture.
Ingredients
- 1 can cherry pie filling 21 oz
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz
- 1 can crushed pineapple drained well, 20 oz
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 container whipped topping thawed, 8 oz
- 1 cup pecans chopped roughly, optional
Instructions
- Roughly chop the pecans. Drain the pineapple juice from the crushed pinapple.
- In a large bowl, stir together cherry pie filling, sweetened condensed milk and pineapple.
- Fold in the marshmallows, whipped topping and pecans.
- Cover with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving. Overnight is fine. The dish will keep, refrigerated, for 2-3 days.
Notes
- Mini marshmallows and nuts are optional and can be omitted based on preference.
- Use crushed pineapple drained thoroughly; pineapple chunks can be a substitute for more texture.
- Mandarin oranges can replace pineapple if desired for different fruit flavor.
- Chill the salad at least one hour, or overnight, to soften marshmallows and meld flavors.
- Garnish with whipped cream and fresh cherries for an appealing presentation.
