Cherry Vanilla Syrup

Cherry Vanilla Syrup has taken the internet by storm recently! I thought that it might be good for more than just coffees and matcha and making flavored syrups is super simple to do at home!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 12 oz frozen cherries
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add water, sugar, and cherries to a saucepan
  2. cook over medium heat for 20 minutes
  3. Remove from the heat, and strain the mixture
  4. Add the vanilla extract and mix
  5. Pour syrup into an air tight container and store in the fridge for up to two weeks

Notes

  • If you can find fresh cherries you can use those rather than frozen.  For this recipe, I think that frozen works just fine because we aren't really doing anything with the cherries except extracting flavor.
  • This syrup would be excellent on or in any number of things!  Teas, coffees, sodas, ice cream, pancakes, you name it!
  • You can get fancy with your vanilla extract here and you can add more if you want more vanilla flavor.
