Ingredients

  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 box ziti
  • olive oil cooking spray
  • 2 cups cooked chicken diced
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan
  • 6 basil leaves chiffonade

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Cook ziti in a large pot of salted boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain and set to the side.
  3. In a large 9 x 12 baking dish, lightly coat with olive oil cooking spray. Pour 1 cup marinara sauce in the baking dish. Then pour in the drained pasta along with 2 cups of sauce, all the chicken, and ½ cup of the mozzarella cheese.  Mix well and then top with remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese. Bake for 25 minutes.
  4. Remove the chicken parmesan baked ziti from the oven. Top with basil chiffonade. Add additional marinara sauce if desired and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • You may also use penne. Since the pasta is cooked alone, you can also use whole wheat or gluten-free if desired. Just make sure to cook them no further than al dente as they will soften more in the oven.
