Chinese Steamed Rice
Chinese Steamed Rice is a simple preparation of long-grain rice rinsed to remove excess starch and gently simmered until tender with a slightly sticky texture. The cooking method preserves the rice's natural aroma and subtle flavor, producing grains that hold together but remain distinctly separate.
Ingredients
- 2 cups long-grain rice uncooked
- 3 1/2 cups water
Instructions
- Rinse the rice several times until the water is clear and most of the starch is gone.
- Add the rice and fresh water to a pot and bring to a boil uncovered letting it boil until almost all the water on the surface is gone and you can see between the grains of rice.
- Cover and reduce to a simmer (very low heat) for 15 minutes. Do not fluff rice, it will disturb the stickiness.
