Chipotle Chili Pepper Powder

This homemade dried chipotle pepper powder is so easy to make and is an excellent addition to all your Mexican and Tex-Mex foods.

Ingredients

  • 4 chipotle peppers
  • 1 cup dried chipotle pepper slices or flakes or 4 smoked

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200ºF if baking otherwise get your smoker ready.
  2. Cut the ends off of each chipotle pepper.
  3. Slice peppers crosswise into ⅛-inch slices.
Baked

  1. Place slices on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 2 hours or until hard and dried.
Smoked
  1. Follow our how to smoke jalapenos recipe.
Process
  1. Place dried slices in a spice grinder or coffee grinder.
  2. Grind until a fine powder.
  3. Store in an airtight container. Serve as needed.

Notes

  • Wash your hands after working with hot peppers.
  • Never touch your face when working with hot peppers.
