Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

This Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread is easy to make from scratch and so delicious.  Studded with melted chocolate chips, this rich pumpkin spice bread is one of our favorite Fall treats!

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 15 ounce can pumpkin puree (a little less than 2 cups if using fresh pumpkin puree)
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two loaf pans with a parchment paper sling.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and oil until light, then add the eggs, pumpkin puree, and water, and mix well to combine.  
  4. Pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture, stirring just until combined, then fold in the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pans, then bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a skewer stuck into the middle of the loaves comes out clean with just a few crumbs sticking to it.
  5. Cool for 30 minutes in the pans before removing and slicing. Store in an airtight container. This bread also freezes well.
