Chocolate Milk for One
This recipe shows how to prepare a single serving of chocolate milk by first dissolving cocoa powder in hot water, then blending with sugar and milk. The process ensures a smooth, lump-free chocolate base that's combined with milk to finish. The instructions rely on microwaving in stages and stirring thoroughly for even flavor and texture.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder 5g
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 cup milk , divided (any percentage*)
- 1 tablespoon sugar 12g
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe cup or mug, combine cocoa powder and water. Microwave for 15 to 20 seconds, until steaming, and stir until very smooth. Add 1/4 cup of the milk and the sugar, and microwave for an additional 15 to 30 seconds, until steaming. Stir until completely mixed. Stir in remaining milk and enjoy.
Notes
- Sift cocoa powder before mixing or strain the finished chocolate milk if you want to avoid lumps.
- Using whole milk or adding a splash of cream improves the richness of the chocolate milk.
- If preparing ahead, stir the chocolate milk well before drinking to mix settled chocolate syrup.
