Chocolate Milk Tea
Chocolate Milk Tea blends brewed black tea with cocoa powder and optional coffee, sweetened and mixed with plant-based milk. Tapioca pearls add a chewy texture typical of bubble tea. Served chilled with ice, this drink balances bitterness with sweetness and creamy mouthfeel, offering a comforting beverage with variations to suit personal taste preferences.
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup tapioca pearls cooked
- ¾ cup water boiling
- 2 bags black tea
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon coffee optional
- 1 cup plant-based milk 1 cup
- ice (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, add the ½ cup of boiling water and tea bag. Cover and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bags, add the sugar, cocoa powder, coffee (if using). Whisk until fully combined.
- Add the tapioca pearls to a glass, then add plenty of ice if using, the tea cocoa mixture, plant-based milk, and stir. Taste and add more sugar if needed.
Notes
- Chill the tea quickly by shaking with ice.
- Adjust creaminess by varying types and amounts of plant-based milk or creamer.
- Modify sweetness, cocoa, and tea strength to taste.
- Consume tapioca pearls within 3-4 hours as they harden over time.
