Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter room temperature
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Liberally grease and flour a 12 cup bundt pan.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, espresso powder, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually beat in the flour mixture, alternately with the buttermilk, until combined.
  6. Bake for 70 minutes or until a tester comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 20 minutes before turning out onto a cake plate to cool completely.
  7. To prepare the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla. When smooth, drizzle over the cake.
