Servings: 1 cup sauce
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1/4 /4 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 /4 cup evaporated milk (a 5 ounce can)
  • 1/4 /4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/8 /8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 /2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a cold saucepan, stir the cocoa powder and sugar together well. Whisk in the milk, melted butter, and salt.
  2. Start off on a low heat and gradually increase heat until it reaches a boil. Continue stirring until it starts to thicken, about 1-2 minutes. You want it to coat the back of a spoon.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. If you want a thicker mixture cook longer. It will still be thin once you are done with this step. Don't worry once you let it cool down a bit it will thicken. It will thicken a lot when chilled. Makes around 1 cup of sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
