Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk in the water.
  2. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until it comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and continue to simmer for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Allow the syrup to cool and pour into a glass jar or bottle.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use the chocolate sauce once it has completely cooled down.
  • The sauce will thicken a bit after refrigeration. This makes it into a perfect ice cream topping!
  • If you like your syrup extra sweet, add 1 tablespoon of sugar in at a time until desired sweetness.
  • Store in refrigerator for up to one month.
