Ingredients
- 22 regular Oreo cookies
- 22 Red Velvet Oreo cookies
- 8 oz cream cheese softened to room temperature, divided
- 10 oz red candy melts divided
- 10 oz dark green candy melts divided
- 10 oz white candy melts divided
- white sparkly sanding sugar optional
Instructions
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to use later.
- Using a food processor or blender, pulse the Oreo cookies until they are ground into fine crumbs. You really want fine crumbs, not bigger cookie crumbs. Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a bowl to use later.
- Repeat the same thing with the red velvet Oreo cookies and put into a separate bowl.
- Add half of the cream cheese into a medium mixing bowl and using a hand blender (or electric mixer is fine), mix the cream cheese until it’s smooth.
- Add the regular Oreo crumbs to the mixed cream cheese and mix again until the Oreo and cream cheese mixture is evenly combined.
- Repeat the same process with the other half of the cream cheese and the bowl of Red Velvet Oreo crumbs.
- With a one and a half inch cookie scoop make evenly sized scoops of Oreo cream cheese balls. Mold it into a cube with your fingers and place on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with both the regular and red velvet Oreo mixture.
- Place the baking sheet into the fridge for two hours.
- Melt whatever color of the candy melts you want to use for the bows. To do this, add the chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals stirring between each one I used white chocolate to do white bows on top of colored “wrapping paper.”
- Pour the candy melts into the silicone bow molds, making sure to wipe the sides of the molds clean. Refrigerate until the bows are completely set.
- Melt the colored chocolate you want to use for dipping the presents either in the microwave using the same method above.
- Dip one of the set Oreo truffles into the candy melts using a fork, coating it with chocolate. Tap the side or edge of the bowl to help get rid of any excess chocolate and then place on the same parchment lined baking sheet.
- Immediately top with sanding sugar and sprinkles if desired.
- Repeat as many times as you want with one color then repeat the process with the other colors until all of your Oreo truffles are coated.
- Melt the candy melts you held behind from making the bows earlier in your preferred method.
- Place the melted candy melts in a piping bag or zipper top bag with the corner cut off and use the piping bag to carefully drizzle over the set presents to make a ribbon.
- Immediately top with a mini bow to complete the Christmas Oreo balls! Let the ribbons and bows on top of the Oreo balls set completely then serve!
Cup of Yum
Notes
- Use any flavor of regular-filled cream Oreos you like. Anything with more cream (double stuff Oreos or mega stuffed) will cause the filling to be too wet and won’t allow it to set and hold its shape properly.
- Make sure to use the right ratio of cream cheese to cookie. No matter what flavor you’re using, or what combination of cookies you put together, just make sure to use an 8oz block of cream cheese for every 44 Oreos.
- Use any melting wafer color options you want. I use red, green, and white for a variety of colors between the Oreo presents and the ribbons, but you can use any colors you want! Try to avoid making the present and the ribbon the same color, otherwise, the color won’t pop!
- Work quickly. Be sure to add on the sanding sugar or any Christmas sprinkles before the coating sets.
- Make sure to put the Oreo balls in a single layer on the baking sheet. If you stack them on top of each other while they’re cooling, they’ll get stuck together!
