Cilantro Lime Sauce Recipe

This cilantro lime sauce recipe comes together in under 5 minutes and is loaded with delicious flavors for the perfect sour cream topping.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces sour cream full-fat
  • 1 cup cilantro packed leaves and stems
  • lime juice about ¼ cup, juice of 2 limes
  • ½ cup green onion only the green parts, thickly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup milk whole
  • 2 teaspoons white distilled vinegar
  • ½ avocado peeled and pitted
  • salt coarse and freshly cracked, to taste
  • black pepper coarse and freshly cracked, to taste

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend on high until the sauce is smooth.
  3. Adjust the seasonings with salt, pepper, and lime juice. Store or serve.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead: You can make this up to 2 days ahead of time.
  • How to Store: Cover and keep the avocado crema in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days.
  • You can also make this recipe in a food processor by adding everything in and processing at high speed until smooth.
  • Try adding 1 seeded serrano or jalapeño pepper for some spice.
  • You can substitute the vinegar with more lime juice if you want.
