Classic Chef Salad

Ingredients

  • 3 heads romaine lettuce chopped
  • 2 cups salad greens mixed
  • 1 medium English cucumber diced
  • 1 pint tomatoes halved, cherry or grape
  • 1/2 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 4 egg peeled and sliced, hard-boiled
  • 4 ounces ham cut into strips or cubes
  • 4 ounces turkey cut into strips or cubes
  • 4 lices Bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 4 ounces swiss cheese sliced into strips
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese optional, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup croutons
  • 1 cup salad dressing Ranch, Italian, or Blue Cheese, of choice

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the 3 heads romaine lettuce and 2 cups mixed salad greens. Chop the romaine into bite-sized pieces. Place both in a large salad bowl.
  2. Dice the 1 medium English cucumber, halve the 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes, and thinly slice the 1/2 small red onion. Add them to the bowl.
  3. Peel and slice the 4 hard-boiled eggs. Slice or cube the 4 ounces ham and 4 ounces turkey. Cook the 4 slices cooked and crumbled bacon until crispy, then crumble it. Slice the 4 ounces Swiss cheese into strips.
  4. Top the salad with the 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese (if using), sliced eggs, ham, turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, and 1/2 cup croutons.
  5. Drizzle with 1 cup salad dressing of choice or serve on the side. Toss gently to coat if dressing is added before serving.
  6. Serve immediately.
