Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
These Brussels sprouts are halved and coated lightly with oil, salt, and pepper before air frying to crisp, tender perfection. The method emphasizes even cooking by shaking the basket during the process. The result is caramelized edges and a tender interior with minimal oil, offering a lighter but flavorful vegetable side or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts stems and any loose leaves removed, sprouts cut into halves
- cooking spray or any light, neutral oil, calorie-controlled
- salt
- black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C.
- Place prepared Brussels sprouts into a bowl, spray with cooking spray, add salt and black pepper and mix until well coated.
- Add Brussels sprouts to the air fryer basket and fry between 8-12 minutes, remove and shake the basket a couple of times during cooking for even crisping.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Remove only the stem ends to get a flat surface and discard any discolored leaves; do not core the Brussels sprouts.
- Choose sprouts of similar size; larger ones can be quartered for even cooking.
- Preheat the air fryer and cook in batches if the basket is small to maintain crispiness.
- Shake the basket halfway through cooking to promote even browning and crisping.
- Fresh Brussels sprouts yield the best texture; frozen can be used but may affect crispness.
- Air fryer temperatures vary, so check the food and adjust cooking time as needed.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
