Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
Description
Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts begin by trimming stems and removing loose leaves, then halving the sprouts for size uniformity. They are tossed with a light coating of cooking spray or neutral oil plus salt and black pepper to season. The air fryer preheated to 350°F cooks them 8-12 minutes, during which the basket is shaken occasionally to ensure even heat exposure and crisping.
The air frying produces a caramelized, crisp outer texture while keeping the inside tender, a contrast that highlights the sprouts’ natural flavors. The recipe avoids coring for simplicity and best texture and recommends fresh sprouts for optimal results.
Serving at warm or room temperature makes them suitable as a side dish to many meals or a standalone lightly seasoned snack. If using a small air fryer or a large quantity, cooking in batches ensures proper crisping.
Proper storage in an airtight container in the refrigerator extends the sprouts’ edibility for up to three days.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts stems and any loose leaves removed, sprouts cut into halves
- cooking spray or any light, neutral oil, calorie-controlled
- salt
- black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C.
- Place prepared Brussels sprouts into a bowl, spray with cooking spray, add salt and black pepper and mix until well coated.
- Add Brussels sprouts to the air fryer basket and fry between 8-12 minutes, remove and shake the basket a couple of times during cooking for even crisping.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Remove only the stem ends to get a flat surface and discard any discolored leaves; do not core the Brussels sprouts.
- Choose sprouts of similar size; larger ones can be quartered for even cooking.
- Preheat the air fryer and cook in batches if the basket is small to maintain crispiness.
- Shake the basket halfway through cooking to promote even browning and crisping.
- Fresh Brussels sprouts yield the best texture; frozen can be used but may affect crispness.
- Air fryer temperatures vary, so check the food and adjust cooking time as needed.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
