Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Tenders
Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Tenders feature tender strips of chicken coated in seasoned flour and breadcrumbs before cooking in the air fryer to a golden, crisp finish. The use of a flour-egg-breadcrumb dredging process and a light spray of oil helps achieve crunchy edges while keeping the interior juicy. They cook quickly and are great served hot with dipping sauces.
Ingredients
Chicken Strips
- 1 1/2 to 2 pounds chicken tenderloin trimmed of fat
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour divided
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs plain
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- pritz cooking oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 5 minutes. Be sure that the air fryer reaches its full temperature before using for best results.
- In a shallow dish, mix together 1/2 cup of flour. In a separate dish, beat together the egg and milk. In a third dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, 1 cup of flour, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika.
- Working one at a time, coat each chicken tender in the plain flour, then the egg mixture, and then the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure each tender is thoroughly coated.
- Place 3-4 chicken tenders in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd it. Spritz the tenders with cooking oil to help them crisp up.
- Cook the chicken tenders at 400°F for 5-6 minutes, then flip them over and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Serve the chicken tenders hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
