Crispy Baked Tofu

Crispy Baked Tofu is made from super-firm tofu cubes coated lightly with olive oil, salt, pepper, and a dusting of cornstarch, then baked until golden and crisp on the outside. The result is tofu with a crunchy exterior and a tender inside, suitable as a protein addition to various dishes or snacks.

Ingredients

  • 1 firm tofu pressed, drained, cubed, super-firm, 15-ounce block
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt pinch
  • black pepper pinch
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper. Set aside
  2. In a large bowl, add the tofu, oil, salt and pepper. Gently mix well.
  3. Add the cornstarch and toss to coat the tofu. Rinse and dry the bowl. Set aside.
  4. Place the tofu on the baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes. Every 10 minutes, turn them to a different side.
  5. Once ready, carefully put the tofu in the bowl and sprinkle a little more salt. Toss and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use super-firm or extra-firm tofu to reduce moisture and ensure crispiness.
  • Press the tofu well to remove excess liquid before cooking for better texture.
  • Coating tofu with cornstarch is essential to achieve a crunchy exterior when baked.
  • Avoid overcrowding the baking pan so tofu pieces can crisp evenly on all sides.
