Instructions
- Spray the inside of the crock pot with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Add the old-fashioned rolled oats, water, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt to the crock pot. Stir to combine.
- Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or overnight, until the oats are tender and the desired consistency is reached.
- Once done, give the oatmeal a good stir to incorporate any liquid that may be on top.
- Serve the oatmeal hot, with your choice of optional toppings such as fresh berries, sliced bananas, chopped nuts, or additional maple syrup.
Notes
- - Old-fashioned rolled oats will work for this recipe, as they should hold up well during the long cooking process. Steel-cut oats can also be used but may require additional liquid and cooking time.
- - For a creamier oatmeal, you can use all milk instead of a combination of water and milk.
- - If you prefer your oatmeal to have a thinner consistency, you can add an extra 1/2 to 1 cup of liquid to the crock pot before cooking.
