Curried Green Peas

Ingredients

  • 300 g green peas (2.5 cups)
  • 2 onions
  • 4-5 garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2-3 Chilies
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 3-4 black peppercorns
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 black cardamoms
  • 1 cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon ghee (optional)

Instructions

  1. Finely dice the onions, garlic ginger, tomatoes, and chilles.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Turn them slightly aromatic.
  3. Stir in garlic and fry for a few seconds. Add onions and saute until translucent.
  4. Next goes in ginger and all the spices. Cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
  5. Stir in tomato and chilies. Cook until the curry base is ready.
  6. Add the peas and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes to coat them with the masala. Then, add water and bring it to a boil. Cover with a lid and let it simmer for 5-8 minutes on low heat.
  7. When the green peas are cooked, add a tablespoon of ghee. It is completely optional.
  8. Serve the hot green peas curry with your favorite food!

Notes

  • Keep peas tender and vibrant by simmering them for just the right amount of time.
  • Don't skip the spices, as they balance out the sweetness of the peas.
